Resumen:
La caracterización y comparación de las características
de las principales deformaciones neotectónicas en general
y cuaternarias en particular del territorio argentino, constituye
el punto de partida para aportar datos de base en la caracterización
del peligro sísmico regional. Este proyecto pretende generar
información con este enfoque, centralizándose en
el primer trienio en el sector de Sierras Pampeanas meridionales
y frente orogénico precordillerano. Paralelamente se pretende
continuar con el mejoramiento y actualización del Mapa
y Base de Datos de Deformaciones Cuaternarias de la Argentina.

Abstract:
The characterization and comparison of the main neotectonic structures
of Argentinean territory in general, and Quaternary ones in particular,
constitutes the starting point for providing geologically-based
data of the characterization of regional seismic risk. This project
aims to generate information with such a scope, focusing on the
southern Sierras Pampeanas and the orogenic front of the Precordillera
in this first 3-year period. Updating and improving the first
version of the Map and Database of Quaternary deformations of
Argentina is also planned.
